Worship

Dear Church Family & Visitors,

In light of Governor DeWine’s Shelter in Place order and out of a concern to love our neighbor, the Session has canceled all activities at the church, including morning worship until further notice. Please pray that our circumstances will change to enable us to meet together properly as a church as soon as possible.

In place of the regular morning worship, the session is urging you to have a directed family worship. This means of worship is more participatory than live-streaming. It is directed in the sense that the order for the worship is provided below. Please follow that order, which closely follows our traditional weekly worship. All hymns, a suggested congregational prayer, and the creed are hyperlinked. All tunes for the hymns can be found at www.hymnary.org. The sermon, also linked, will be posted by 10:30 am each Sunday morning. Simply click on the corresponding label on the right side and a new tab on your browser will open.

The elders and the deacons are available to help you both spiritually or physically. We love you and continue to pray for you. Let us endeavor to keep in touch with one another and pray that we can meet together soon. All members have contact information for the elders and the deacons. If you are visiting, thank you. You are able to contact the church through the Contact form on this website.

ORDER OF WORSHIP

The Lord’s Day, April 5th, 2020

For Meditation

3Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place? 4He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. 5He will receive blessing from the LORD and righteousness from the God of his salvation.  (Psalm 24:3-5)

Opening Prayer

Leader: You are a God at hand, never a far-away God. None can hide himself in some secret place where you cannot see him, for you fill heaven and earth. You are not far from any of us. We will never escape your presence or elude your Spirit. If we ascend to heaven, you are there. If we make our bed in the earth’s depths, Look! You are there. If we fly away on the outstretched wings of the morning’s rays or sail to the uttermost parts of the sea’s expanse, even there your hand shall lead us and your right hand shall sustain us. We can never out run you. Hear and receive our worship through Christ. Amen.

Call to Confession of Sin                                                                   Colossians 3:5-17

Silent Confession of Sin

Corporate Confession of Sin

O eternal God and merciful Father, we humble ourselves before your great majesty, against which we have frequently and grievously sinned. We acknowledge our waywardness, and are heartily sorry for all our sins. Nevertheless, O Lord God and gracious Father, we know that you do not desire the death of the sinner, but rather that he should turn to you and live. Wash us in the pure fountain of Jesus’ blood, so that we may become clean and white as snow. Your law is inscribed upon the tablets of our heart; give us the desire and strength to walk in the ways of your precepts. Amen. (source: Abraham Kuyper)
