Philippians 4:14-19, A Biblically Approved Account (Rev. Bill Warren)
Prayer Meeting led by the elders
The evening worship service is at 5:30 pm. This week, the church will have a corporate prayer meeting.
Adult Sunday School: We have begun an important study in the Book of 1 Corinthians. The Apostle Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians covers a wide and diverse set of topics. In the first half of the letter, he sets about to correct some erroneous views and practices in the church, especially divisions. The latter part of the letter is a series of answers to questions posed by the church (usually beginning, “Now concerning…”). Chapter 15 has the deepest treatment of the believer’s resurrection anywhere in Scripture. Join us as we journey deep into a letter that gets only scant attention in the Reformed world.
This week the Wednesday home group and study will meet at the Marions’ house (32 Yellowdale Dr. Fairfield 45014) at 7 pm. Sharing in one another’s lives is a key element to showing love to the brethren. The session’s hope is that all will participate in our home group ministry this summer. Our study is The Enemy Within by Kris Lundgaard. Read the Excursus (between chapters 7 and 8). If you don’t have the book, you’re still welcome to participate.
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” (1 Pet. 4:10). The Deacons are forming two committees. One committee will coordinate hospitality and fellowship activities. The other committee will coordinate the care and beautification of the building and grounds. So if you are gifted in hospitality, organization, and beautification or just have willing hands to serve, please contact Luke Denny or Brian Hopson to see how you can serve the Body of Christ.
Please note the following schedule changes for August and September:
Pastor Chris will be away on Sunday, August 4. The elders will lead the adult Sunday school, the Rev. Bill Warren will preach at the morning service, and the evening service will be a prayer meeting. The Wednesday study is canceled for Wednesday, August 7. The fellowship dinner is postponed one week.
Our next fellowship lunch is Sunday, August 11 after the morning service. The food theme is ribs – pick a favorite barbecue style or bring the typical side dishes. The fellowship lunch Sunday is always a great opportunity to invite a friend.
The August 11 evening worship service will be at 2 pm.
The Session meets on Thursday, August 22 at 6:30 pm.
Looking ahead to September…we will have two fellowship meals; the first on September 1 and the second on September 22. The second meal will be with special guests from Ireland.
Brochures are now available for the POH Women’s Retreat. All women in the church: Save the date. The Presbytery of Ohio’s Women’s Retreat is on September 27-28, 2019 at Camp Akita. Mrs. Diane Olinger is the speaker.
