This week we welcome the Rev. Al Tricarico. Rev. Al Tricarico serves as the associate general secretary for the Committee on Home Missions and Church Extension. Al graduated from Biblical Theological Seminary [Hatfield, PA] in 1983 and served two congregations before laboring in Uganda as a missionary evangelist from 2005 through 2015. He and his wife, Laurie, live near Philadelphia and have five children and one grandchild.
The OPC Short-Term Outreach, Relief, and Missions (S.T.O.R.M) is looking for skilled and unskilled volunteers to help in Houston (Hurricane Harvey) and Key West, FL (Hurricane Irma). Although the help is urgent, they predict that help will be needed for 1-2 years. If you volunteer, you bear all travel and food costs, but housing is available. Please contact Janet Birkmann or David Nakhla at the S.T.O.R.M. Office. Visit www.opcstm.org for contact info and more information.
Join us for evening worship at 6PM.
On Wednesday, November 8, we’ll host the Presbytery of Ohio’s missionary to Japan, the Rev. Dr. Stewart “Woody” Lauer. Rev. Lauer and his family have been ministering in Japan for over 30 years and he regularly teaches and preaches God’s word. Please join us that evening to hear from a missionary we all support.
The deacons are calling a church work day for Saturday, November 11th from 9-12. There are both indoor and outdoor projects needing to be completed. This is later in the year than we wanted to schedule, so we'll try to have some hot drinks available to help mitigate the colder weather.
The OPC Thank Offering will be on Sunday, November 19. This year the theme is “Delighting in the Lord” (Psalm 37:4). We’ll begin passing out the bulletin inserts explaining the offering on October 22. The offering supports the work of the OPC - Home Missions, Foreign Missions, and Christian Education.
The Session calls for the annual Good Shepherd OPC congregational meeting to be December 3 at 2PM. All members within the greater Cincinnati area are encouraged to be present for our business. The business we will conduct is regular - to hear the state of the church, to review the budget, to hold an election, to review and possibly change some church by-laws, and to have a corporation meeting with the Trustees. All non-members are welcome, but are not able to vote. There will be a time of questions and to hear of the plans for 2018. Please join us.
A copy of the by-laws and the budget will be available on November 19 for your review prior to the meeting.
