These are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of April 4-10, 2016.
If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris to be included in the congregational prayer on Sunday morning or evening.
The Lord’s Day (April 10)
We return to our study, “Faith of Our Fathers,” a study of the Westminster Confession of Faith. We’re in chapter 2, Of God and of the Holy Trinity” and we’ll begin examining the perfections or attributes of God.
There are two children’s classes which use Great Commission Publications curriculum.
Acts 6:8-15, True and False Witnesses. Stephen, one of the magnificent seven who served tables in Jerusalem now serves the Lord performing signs and wonders accompanied by powerful preaching. Although his story goes through chapter 7, we’ll look at the beginning where trumped up charges are brought against him.
Matthew 6:1-4, Practicing Righteousness: Giving to the Needy. The 6 antitheses were challenging for us as modern Americans as they cut against our cultural norms. Although we are moving into a new section of Jesus’s sermon, the next section will be no less challenging. We’ll begin with Jesus’s admonition not to practice your righteousness so that you may be seen.
Join us for prayer each Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm. Please send Pastor Chris any requests that you would like us to pray for.
The Session will meet Tuesday, April 5 at 6:30 pm.
The women are meeting Friday, April 8 at 7 pm at the church for study and refreshments. The women will read The Practice of Godliness by Jerry Bridges. Please see Ananda Pienaar for more information.
To prepare for the conference and to “spring clean” the church, the deacons have called for a work day on Saturday, April 9 from 9 am – 1 pm. Please join us as we work inside and outside.
The second annual Reformed in America conference is Saturday, April 16. We’ll host URCNA pastor and co-host of the White Horse Inn radio show/podcast, the Rev. Dr. Kim Riddlebarger. He’ll present our topic, “Understanding the End Times” in three lectures and a Q & A, beginning at 9 am. The cost is free with an optional $10 catered lunch. You can find out more about Dr. Riddlebarger at www.kimriddlebarger.squarespace.com.
On Sunday, April 17, there will be a joint service with Good Shepherd, Westside Reformed Church, and Redeemer Community Church at our building. The Rev. Dr. Kim Riddlebarger will preach. Afterward, we’ll have a covered dish fellowship lunch.
We need two volunteers for the conference. First we need one person to help watch over the nursery. Second, we need one person to coordinate the snacks. Please see Pastor Chris to serve.
Good Shepherd is hosting a game night on Friday April 29th at 7:00 PM. This will be a fun evening for everyone, young and old to get together for some fellowship around board games of any type. Please bring a light snack to share and bring any games you might have. Please use this opportunity to invite family and friends to join us. We plan to conclude around 9:30. Please let Marius Pienaar know if you intend to come or if you have any questions. MariusPienaar@hotmail.com or 513 453 3705.
We will join Redeemer OPC in Beavercreek for a joint service on May 29 at 5:30 pm with refreshments following the service.
