Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of November 14-20, 2016.
If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris to be included in the congregational prayer on Sunday morning or evening.
The Lord’s Day (November 20)
We continue our study on the end times. The topic is Positive Signs of the Times. While not necessary, you may want to read Matthew 24 prior to Sunday school.
There are two classes for the children. Both use Great Commission Publications curriculum.
Acts 15:22-35, “A Letter to the Gentiles”
Matthew 7:13-14, “Warning: Two Gates”
Evening worship is at 6 pm. Afterwards, we have a time of discussion.
Join us for Bible Study each Wednesday at 7 pm at the church. Our study is through the Old Testament books of Judges and Ruth. Invite a friend.
Marius and Ananda Pienaar have invited you to Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, November 24 at 5 pm, with dinner at 5:30. They ask everyone to bring a dish to share, much like the church fellowship meals. They will coordinate the food choices once they know who is coming. Please contact the Pienaars at church and let them know if you plan to come. This is open to anyone at church, friends and family are welcome also, just bring food for everyone you invite or have them bring a dish also.
Our next fellowship lunch is Sunday, December 4 after morning worship. Our food theme is Christmas foods. There will be no Sunday evening worship.
The Session has called for the annual Congregational Meeting on December 4 after the fellowship lunch. This is our regularly scheduled annual meeting to hear the state of the church, review the budget, and offer feedback or questions to the pastor, session, and deacons. All members are encouraged to attend; all regular attendees or those interested in the church are welcome to attend.
The Committee for the Historian this week published a book that we hope will encourage the faithful men and women in the OPC. Choosing the Good Portion: Women of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church shares the lives of more than ninety women who have served in the OPC since its beginning. Their stories flesh out what God has done in the OPC over the last 80-years. This book is available on the OPC Publications page under Historical Books. It’s the perfect gift for all ages.
