Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of February 15-21, 2016.

If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris to be included in the congregational prayer on Sunday morning or evening.

The Lord’s Day (February 21)
Sunday School
Our class is a twelve week video featuring Dr. Guy Prentiss Waters, professor of New Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson MS and teaching elder in the Mississippi Valley Presbytery (PCA). He’s written several books, including several on justification. The twelve week course is entitled, “The Life and Theology of Paul.”

Class # 12: The Future: Our focus in this series has been on the gospel that Paul preached, one that meets us at our point of need as sinners and continues with us all the way. Thus, it is fitting that Dr. Waters in our last lesson brings us to the end as we wrap up all that Christ purposes for us in the future. In many respects, we have seen already in the gospel that the future breaks into the present. Whether it is our justification or sanctification, we grasp to some extent now what awaits us in the end. Through the Spirit, as we behold the Lord’s glory, we are by degrees being transformed into the image of Christ now, which makes the future a real and present hope to us as Christians. In this lesson, then, we will concern ourselves with the future in connection with the individual believer and the entire world.

Morning Worship
Fellowship in the Spirit included sharing one’s finances with those in the church who had need. In our sermon, we’ll look at a positive and negative example of this sharing and note how the Lord watches over his church to discipline wayward members. The text is Acts 4:36-5:11 and the title is “Scorning the Spirit’s Fellowship.”

Evening Worship
Since the evening service was canceled last week, we’ll pick up with the same topic. Following on the heels of lust and adultery is divorce, always a touchy subject. In two verses, Jesus has given us much to ponder and consider about the marriage relationship and its unfortunate consequence, divorce. We’ll look at Matthew 5:31-32, “A Certificate of Divorce”.

Announcements
Join us for prayer each Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm. Please send Pastor Chris any requests that you would like us to pray for.

Please join us and tell others about our three week study, “The Intimate Marriage” featuring a video series by Dr. R.C. Sproul. Fliers have been sent via email attachment and some are available at the church. Our three week study concludes this Friday evening, February 19. We begin at 6:30 pm with dinner. We’ll have food and fellowship along with discussion. Single adults are invited to participate with us. Childcare will be provided.

The session thanks all members who participated in the town hall meeting. We will discuss the feedback at our next meeting on February 23.

The Session will meet on Tuesday, February 23 at 6:30 pm.

Our next monthly fellowship lunch is Sunday, March 6 after the service.

The Presbytery of Ohio will meet on March 10-11 in Pataskala.

The second annual Reformed in America conference will be Saturday, April 16. This year we’ll host URCNA pastor and co-host of the White Horse Inn radio show/podcast, the Rev. Dr. Kim Riddlebarger. He’ll present our topic, “Understanding the End Times” in three lectures and a Q & A, beginning at 9 am. The cost is free with an optional $10 catered lunch.
