Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of March 10-16, 2014.
Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love. He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities underfoot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. You will show faithfulness to Jacob and steadfast love to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old. (Micah 7:18-20)
A Call to Prayer (Wednesday, March 12, 2014; 7 pm)
Join us for an hour of prayer this and every Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm. This is a terrific chance to minister to one another in love through prayer. If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris my Wednesday afternoon to be included in the prayer gathering.
The Lord’s Day Morning (March 16, 2014)
Pastor Chris will make a report of the Presbytery of Ohio’s stated meeting, particularly on the outcome of the appeal of complaint by Immanuel OPC against Grace OPC. If there is remainder time, we’ll begin a study of Colossians 2:6-15, focusing on the antidote to the false spirituality afoot in Colossae.
There are also two children’s classes; both use the Great Commission Publications curriculum.
Each week we partake in the Lord’s Supper. I encourage you to read the Westminster Larger Catechism 171 this week and each week and make preparations to eat at the Lord’s Table. As for the sermon, we’ll continue our series by examining 1 Peter 2:13-17 with the title, “Submission as Citizens of Worldly Kingdoms.” The Old Testament lesson is Genesis 23:1-20. This section of 1 Peter delineates the “house rules” and focuses on submission, used in 2:13, 18; and 3:1. We’ll focus on our vocations in life as a template for living in this world.
This Lord’s Day, Rev. Ken Montgomery will lead the service and preach. As of this writing, he has not forwarded any sermon information. Pastor Chris will lead the service and preach at Redeemer OPC in Beavercreek. Essentially Pastors Ken and Chris will swap pulpits for the evening.
We have been doing some promotional advertising of Good Shepherd OPC on social media, particularly Facebook. If you have a Facebook account, please go to the Good Shepherd page and “Like” us; that helps others see our page. Also, if you would, please share our updates, which are mostly announcements of services. Again, this freely promotes our church to your friends and family. By extending our reach, others in the Cincinnati area will learn of our church. Thank you for helping us in this way.
Wednesday Prayer at 7 PM, each Wednesday. Please forward any requests so that we might include them in our prayers.
Evening Lord’s Day worship each Sunday evening at 6 PM. If you have a hymn or psalm request, please advance it to me for our hymn sing.
The next Men’s Breakfast is Saturday, April 12 at 8 am at Cracker Barrel in Sharonville. All men are invited and this is a good opportunity to bring a friend. Please read chapters 8-10 of Crazy Busy.
There is a women’s Bible study each Tuesday at 1 PM. Please contact Ananda, Annie, Sarah or Stephany for details. Currently, they are studying Ephesians.
The next fellowship lunch is Sunday, April 6 immediately after morning worship.
We are hosting a Lifeline Health Screening on Monday, April 21, 2014. There are three discount coupons available for the screenings. Please contact Pastor Chris if you would like one.
We will have a spring work day on Saturday, April 26. Please come out to spring clean, inside and out.
