Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of March 3-9, 2014.
Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100
A Call to Prayer (Wednesday, March 5, 2014; 7 pm)
Join us for an hour of prayer this and every Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm. This is a terrific chance to minister to one another in love through prayer. If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris my Wednesday afternoon to be included in the prayer gathering.
The Lord’s Day Morning (March 9, 2014)
In our study of Colossians this week, we’ll study 1:24-2:5 with a focus on the proclamation of the gospel: its grandeur and effects. It will be a good time to reflect on public worship and personal evangelism, including leading our covenant children to the faith. The center of the proclamation is Christ and we’ll spend some time considering Paul’s phrase, “Him we proclaim!”
There are also two children’s classes; both use the Great Commission Publications curriculum.
Each week we partake in the Lord’s Supper. I encourage you to read the Westminster Larger Catechism 171 this week and each week and make preparations to eat at the Lord’s Table. As for the sermon, we’ll continue our series by examining 1 Peter 2:10-12 with the title, “Life as a Sojourner.” The Old Testament lesson is Jeremiah 29:1-14. Holiness continues to be a major theme in our study of 1 Peter.
This Lord’s Day, we will continue our study of the Westminster Shorter Catechism, examining questions 25: Q. 25. How doth Christ execute the office of a priest? A. Christ executeth the office of a priest, in his once offering up of himself a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice, and reconcile us to God; and in making continual intercession for us. The sermon text is Acts 8:32-35 and the title is “The Offices of the Messiah: A Priest.”
We have begun doing some promotional advertising of Good Shepherd OPC on social media, particularly Facebook. If you have a Facebook account, please go to the Good Shepherd page and “Like” us; that helps others see our page. Also, if you would, please share our updates, which are mostly announcements of services. Again, this freely promotes our church to your friends and family. By extending our reach, others in the Cincinnati area will learn of our church. Thank you for helping us in this way.
Wednesday Prayer at 7 PM, each Wednesday. Please forward any requests so that we might include them in our prayers.
Evening Lord’s Day worship each Sunday evening at 6 PM. If you have a hymn or psalm request, please advance it to me for our hymn sing.
The next Men’s Breakfast is Saturday, March 8 at 8 am at the church. All men are invited and this is a good opportunity to bring a friend. Please read chapters 6-7 of Crazy Busy.
The next fellowship lunch is Sunday, April 6 immediately after morning worship.
We are hosting a Lifeline Health Screening on Monday, April 21, 2014.
