Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of June 29-July 5, 2015.
If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris to be included in the congregational prayer on Sunday morning or evening.
The Lord’s Day (July 5)
Elder Chris Crandall teaches part two of his three week study on Peter.
There are two children’s classes; both use the Great Commission Publications curriculum, Show Me Jesus.
We conclude of our study of Amos. This week we will examine Amos 9:11-15, “The Restoration of Israel”. As we explore the restoration of Israel, we’ll note how the New Testament handles this text to give us a proper understanding of Israel. The New Testament lesson is Romans 11:11-24.
We come to the ethical section of 1 Thessalonians which is likened to a walk or journey. This oft used Scriptural metaphor speaks of the Christian life as a progression through time and space. Certainly it cuts against any notions of immediate sanctification or second blessing. Our text is 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8, “The Will of God for You: Purity.”
Sunday Evening worship is at 2 pm, immediately following our lunch. If you have a psalm or hymn request, please forward it to Pastor Chris. Remember, you may go online to look at both the psalms and the proposed hymns for requests.
New ministries for the summer. Beginning July 1, we will host an adult Bible study and children’s ministry each Wednesday evening for the summer (until August 26). This is to follow up with all of the contacts we make at VBS as well as for our edification. The adult Bible study is Christianity Explored, a seven week video led study with discussion. The children will walk through half of Great Commission Publications’ A Pilgrim’s Progress. We will have light refreshments, study, and discussion. It would be great if all of us participated and if we knew of an unbeliever, to invite him or her for our study. This ministry will begin July 1 and end on August 26.
Session will meet on July 2 at 6:30 pm.
The Hopsons have invited the church to their house on July 4 for a picnic. Please bring a side dish, dessert, or drinks. Remember chairs, sunscreen and lawn games too.
The next fellowship lunch is scheduled for Sunday, July 5, immediately after morning worship. The theme is All American foods.
Mark your calendars for July 13-18, 2015 Presbytery of Ohio Youth Camp at 4-H Camp Piedmont! Pastor Ken Montgomery is requesting that all from Good Shepherd who are going meet at Redeemer on July 13 for a shared ride over to the camp. Several churches from southwestern Ohio will be ride sharing. Pastor Montgomery is arranging for a vehicle to accommodate all.
