Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of May 18-24, 2015.
A Call to Prayer (Wednesdays at 7 pm)
Join us for an hour of prayer this and every Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm. This is a good chance to minister to one another in love through prayer. If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris by Wednesday afternoon to be included in the prayer meeting.
The Lord’s Day (May 24)
Mr. Alex Eppstein concludes his eight week study on the Gospel of Mark. On May 31, Pastor Chris will introduce and have a discussion regarding the Child Safety Policy. During the summer, we will have a General Assembly update and three or four short classes. The summer term begins June 7 with Mr. Marius Pienaar teaching on prayer.
There are two children’s classes; both use the Great Commission Publications curriculum, Show Me Jesus.
This week we pause from our study of Amos and hear a guest minister, Rev. Marc Clauson (Reformed Episcopal Church). He has not sent a text and title as of this announcement.
Mr. Alex Eppstein will preach from Psalm 100 and we will sing Hymn 1. If you have a request for our hymn sing, please forward your hymn or psalm to Pastor Chris.
Wednesday Prayer at 7 PM, each Wednesday.
Sunday Evening worship is at 6 pm. If you have a psalm or hymn request, please forward it to Pastor Chris.
The Women's Bible Study is on hiatus for the summer.
A special announcement: Please refrain from wearing colognes and perfumes at church. We have not reminded you in some time, but these kinds of scents trigger Amy Eppstein’s reactions. The Eppsteins would very much appreciate your help and cooperation in keeping Good Shepherd scent free. Thank you very much.
Pastor Chris is on vacation. If you have a pastoral need, please contact one of the ruling elders.
On Sunday evening May 31, we will have a joint service with Redeemer OPC (Beavercreek) at our building. Please bring a finger food at 5 pm to share. The service will be at 6 pm.
The next fellowship lunch is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, immediately after morning worship. The theme is picnic foods. Evening worship begins at 2 pm.
The session will meet on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:30 pm.
We will host a community picnic on Saturday evening, June 13. Like last year, we will provide food and games for all participants with the goal of inviting the community to church and to register children for VBS.
The General Assembly is the governing body of the whole church and the highest court of appeal in judicial matters. It consists of approximately 150 voting commissioners, including the moderator and stated clerk of the previous assembly and such ministers and ruling elders as are commissioned by their respective presbyteries. The 82nd GA is called to meet at Dordt College, Sioux Center, Iowa, from June 3–9, 2015. You may find more information at the Orthodox Presbyterian Church website (www.opc.org/ga.html).
Good Shepherd OPC will host our second annual Vacation Bible School June 22-26. The theme is Summer Seaquest. From the publisher’s website: Summer Seaquest anchors VBS Sea Explorers in God's Word as they follow the famous fleeing prophet Jonah, tracing his roundabout route to repentance to discover life-changing truths about the Savior he points to. We’ll be asking for volunteers to help in this ministry.
