Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of April 6-12, 2015.
A Call to Prayer (Wednesdays at 7 pm)
Join us for an hour of prayer this and every Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm. This is a good chance to minister to one another in love through prayer. If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris by Wednesday afternoon to be included in the prayer meeting.
The Lord’s Day (April 12)
Mr. Alex Eppstein continues an eight week study on the Gospel of Mark. During the summer, we will have three or four short classes, which we will soon announce.
There are two children’s classes; both use the Great Commission Publications curriculum, Show Me Jesus.
This week we pick up our study of Amos. The prophet announces judgment in terms of finality, something Israel would not have been used to hearing from their prophets to that point. What drives God’s judgment is Israel’s complacency which lead to transgressing God’s law. The text is Amos 3:9-15 and the title is Not the Weakest Link. The New Testament reading is Romans 7:1-6.
We continue our series on the Westminster Shorter Catechism at question 105. At this point in the prayer, you acknowledge your sin and ask forgiveness. The text is Matthew 6:12 and the various supporting texts and the title is “Forgive Us Our Debts.”
WSC 105 What do we pray for in the fifth petition?
A. In the fifth petition (which is, And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors) we pray, That God, for Christ's sake, would freely pardon all our sins; which we are the rather encouraged to ask, because by his grace we are enabled from the heart to forgive others.
Wednesday Prayer at 7 PM, each Wednesday.
Sunday Evening worship is at 6 pm. If you have a psalm or hymn request, please forward it to Pastor Chris.
The Women's Bible Study is meets each Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Miller’s house.
The church will be hosting a progressive dinner on Friday, April 17, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Please sign up in the church lobby for one of the houses with the amount of people coming. Each family needs to bring at least one dish to make the meal successful. The Hostess of the house you are signing up, will contact you with the details of what dish (salad, entrée or dessert) you have to bring. We progress in the following order: from the Penns to the Taylors to the Millers. Please find the addresses at the church.
We need to know how many people are coming by Sunday April 12 so that the Hostesses can assign guests with food to bring. Contact Sarah Taylor with questions.
The deacons have scheduled a work day for Saturday, April 18 from 9 am until 1 pm. There will be indoor and outdoor work for skilled and unskilled laborers. Please see the sign-up sheet in the church lobby.
The Session will meet on Tuesday, April 28 at 6:30 pm.
The next fellowship lunch is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, immediately after morning worship. The theme will be announced. A special ‘thank you’ to Sarah Taylor who made eggs benedict last Sunday!
If you would like to be a part of or would like more information about the Presbytery of Ohio’s disaster response team, please speak with one of the deacons, Mr. Brian Hopson or Mr. Luke Denny.
