Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of February 9-15, 2015.
A Call to Prayer (Wednesdays at 7 pm) Join us for an hour of prayer this and every Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm. This is a good chance to minister to one another in love through prayer. If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris by Wednesday afternoon to be included in the prayer meeting. The Lord’s Day (February 15) Sunday School Pastor Chris is teaching through the Westminster Confession of Faith. This week we’ll finish chapter one, Of Holy Scripture. Please read the Westminster Confession of Faith chapter 1 and its proof texts in preparation for class. Our study is called “Knowing What You Believe.” There are two children’s classes; both use the Great Commission Publications curriculum. Morning Worship We pick up the life and times of Jonah. This week Jonah is in Nineveh and preaching God’s message of judgment and mercy. The sermon text is Jonah 3:3b-10, “Man About Town.” The New Testament lesson is Romans 3:21-31. Evening Worship Our evening worship study is through the ordinary means of grace – the Word of God preached, the sacraments, and prayer. Having completed the first and second means of grace, we’ll slowly work through prayer. This week we’ll examine WSC 98, “The Incense of Prayer.” Our text is Psalm 10:17. WSC 98 What is prayer? A. Prayer is an offering up of our desires unto God, for things agreeable to his will, in the name of Christ, with confession of our sins, and thankful acknowledgment of his mercies. Announcements Wednesday Prayer at 7 PM, each Wednesday. Sunday Evening worship is at 6 p.m. If you have a hymn or psalm request, please send it to me for our hymn sing. The Women's Bible Study is meets each Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Miller’s house. The Session will meet on Thursday, February 19 at 6:30 pm. The next fellowship lunch is Sunday, March 1, immediately after morning worship. Life Line Screening will be conducting health screenings for stroke, diabetes, heart disease, and osteoporosis at the church on March 17. Registration is required. Pick up a flier from the lobby. A big "Thank you" to all who participated in the Reformed in America conference. The speakers enjoyed meeting and ministering to us.
