Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of June 19-25, 2017.
If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris to be included in the congregational prayer on Sunday morning or evening.
The Lord’s Day (June 25)
We’ll embark on a new class called The Doctrines of Grace. Although neither written by John Calvin nor an early entry into Reformed Theology, the so-called “five points of Calvinism” endure as a summary for many Christians of Calvinist theology. We’ll explore the history behind the writing of the “five points” and examine each of these magnificent doctrines. This week. We’ll begin with the historical background to the writing of the Doctrines of Grace.
The children have a class that uses Great Commission Publications curriculum.
We return to Acts as the boat on which Paul is sailing enters a storm. We’ll look at Acts 27:13-26, “Words of Comfort.”
Romans 1:18-32, “The Wrath of God Revealed”
Our evening worship service begins at 6:00 pm. We’ll resume our study in Romans and leave time for discussion at the conclusion of the service.
The Bible Study is each Wednesday at 7 pm. We are studying what is sometimes considered the silent Person of the Trinity - the Holy Spirit, using a Puritan Paperback abridged version of John Owen’s The Holy Spirit. This book has been abridged and modernized for grammar and language so as to make it “easy to read.”
The Session meets on June 29 at 6:30 pm.
New Song, a singing group from Geneva College (Beaver Falls PA), will be in concert at Good Shepherd on Tuesday, Jul 11 at 7 pm. There is no cost and it is a great opportunity to invite your friends to the church. We will have a church-wide dinner at 5 pm with the group. If you are interested in hosting one or more of the twelve students, for one night’s lodging, please tell Pastor Chris.
