Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of June 16-22, 2014.
I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God. And I will deliver you from all your uncleannesses. And I will summon the grain and make it abundant and lay no famine upon you (Ezekiel 36:25-29).
A Call to Prayer (Wednesday, June 18, 2014; 7 pm)
Join us for an hour of prayer this and every Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm. This is a terrific chance to minister to one another in love through prayer. We have changed the format slightly to include more singing. If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris by Wednesday afternoon to be included in the prayer gathering.
The Lord’s Day (June 22, 2014)
This week we conclude our adult Sunday School class, “Faith of our Fathers: Why Creeds and Confessions?” taught by Ken Gentry. The video is about 25 minutes long and discussion will follow. A complementary book is Carl Trueman’s, The Creedal Imperative.
There are also two children’s classes; both use the Great Commission Publications curriculum.
WLC 160: What is required of those that hear the word preached? A. It is required of those that hear the word preached, that they attend upon it with diligence, preparation, and prayer; examine what they hear by the scriptures; receive the truth with faith, love, meekness, and readiness of mind, as the word of God; meditate, and confer of it; hide it in their hearts, and bring forth the fruit of it in their lives. This Sunday, Dr. Marc Clauson of Cedarville University will preach in my absence. His title is Christlikeness and his text is Colossians 3:1-17. Please prepare appropriately.
The evening worship service will meet with Redeemer OPC in Beavercreek (22 S. Fairfield Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45440). A time of fellowship and refreshments is at 5pm – please bring a finger food to share. The service begins at 6pm
The Crandalls have invited everyone from the church to their home Sunday afternoon for lunch, immediately after the morning service.
A very big ‘thank you’ to all who participated in our Vacation Bible School. It was a success as we ministered to about 40 children throughout the week. Only about ten were from Good Shepherd, so we have reached into our community.
Pastor Chris is away this week. Please direct all pastoral need calls to one of the elders. Dr. Marc Clauson will preach Sunday morning.
Wednesday Prayer at 7 PM, each Wednesday. Please forward any requests so that we might include them in our prayers. Elder Maury Penn will lead this evening.

The church is now receiving nominations for elder and deacon for the class of 2017. Nominees must be members of the church, male, agreeable to be nominated, and meet the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-9 (for elders). If you have talked with someone and that one is agreeable, please write their name in an email or on a piece of paper and send it to Pastor Chris. The session will review the list and present it in July. After the list has been determined, there will be a time of instruction and examination.
Upcoming this summer: This summer is shaping up to be a busy one; I hope that you’ll receive the ministry from our guests and help us to promote our events. On July 27, we will have Rev.
