Here are the Good Shepherd OPC announcements for March 11-17, 2019.
The Lord’s Day (March 17)
Our class is called “God’s Word is a Lamp: Learning to Study God’s Word.” This week: “What is Hermeneutics? Establishing Guidelines and Rules for Interpreting.”
The children have two classes that use Great Commission Publications curriculum.
1 Samuel 21:1-22:5, Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures. This passage has some extra reading that will enlighten the passage. If you have a chance, read Exodus 25:23-30; Leviticus 24:5-9; and Matthew 12:1-8 in relation to 1 Samuel 21:1-9; Psalms 34 and 56 in relation to 1 Samuel 21:10-15; and Matthew 10:1-4; Mark 3:13-19; and Luke 6:12-16 in relation to 1 Samuel 22:1-5.
Deuteronomy 18:18; Acts 3:22-23, Christ Our Prophet (WSC 24). As we look at each office Jesus puts into effect, we’ll further define what we mean by office and how Jesus acts both when he was on earth (His humiliation) and now at the Father’s right hand (His exaltation).
The evening worship service is at 5:30 pm, with a Q & A following.
We conclude our Wednesday evening study this week (03/13). We’ll discuss Honest Evangelism, chapter 8. You’re invited for discussion, prayer and fellowship.
The Wednesday study will take a hiatus after tomorrow’s meeting. We’ll return soon with a new study.
The Session meets tonight at 6:30 pm.
The Presbytery of Ohio’s annual Youth rally will be hosted by Grace OPC (Columbus) on March 22-24, 2019. It’s called “Declaring the End from the Beginning.” The Rev. Brad Peppo will speak on the decrees of God and the freedom of man. The cost is $10 per person if departing on Saturday and $15 if you stay until Sunday. Please contact Pastor Chris for all details as the registration deadline is approaching quickly and a late is assessed.
The next fellowship lunch is Sunday, April 7 after morning worship. If you have a food theme, please send it to Pastor Chris.
The evening worship service for April 7 will be at 2:00 pm.
New Song, the a Capella singing group from Geneva College will return for a concert on Monday, June 24. Details will follow. We are asked to host the students for a night.
On July 8-13, 2019, the Presbytery of Ohio will have its annual youth summer camp. Brochures with detailed information, speakers, topics, costs, etc. are available at the church. Scholarships are available for those in need.
