Here are the Good Shepherd OPC announcements for February 11-17, 2019.
The Lord’s Day (February 17)
Our class is called “God’s Word is a Lamp: Learning to Study God’s Word.” This week: “What is hermeneutics?” In short, we can say it is the study of interpreting texts; in our case the biblical text. Since we all do this intuitively, we should have a good handle on the proper way to interpret.
The children have two classes that use Great Commission Publications curriculum.
1 Samuel 17:1-58, Goliath is the Brute Squad. Please take some time this week to read over this story; if possible read it several times. First, we won’t read the whole chapter on Sunday morning, only selected parts. Second, our familiarity with this story (David and Goliath) is very colored by children’s literature and other derivations that may not give us accurate understanding of the biblical story.
Acts 13:48: Gaining a Better Inheritance (WSC 20)
Join us for the evening worship service at 5:30 pm, with a Q & A following.
The Wednesday Bible study has resumed Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. We’re studying Rico Tice’s book, Honest Evangelism. The books are $5 a piece. Join us for a lively and practical discussion. We’re studying chapter 5 (“What Do I Say?”) on Wednesday. If you haven’t read the book, you’re still welcome to come for prayer, fellowship and discussion.
The session will meet on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 6:30 pm.
The next fellowship lunch is Sunday, March 3, 2019 after the morning worship. The food theme is open to suggestions. All are welcome to join us after the service. This is always a good Sunday to invite a guest to get to know us.
The evening worship for March 3 is at 2:00 pm.
