The History of the OPC: The OPC and the Christian Reformed Church
The children have two classes that use Great Commission Publications curriculum.
1 Samuel 9:1-27, Introducing Saul
Genesis 1:1, All Things From Nothing (WSC 9)
The evening worship service is at 5:30 pm.
Study the Bible with us on Wednesday. We begin at 7:00 pm and are studying Jesus’s Kingdom parables in Matthew 13. This week, we’ll consider some of the implications of Jesus’s parables.
The next Session meeting is Tuesday, November 13, at 6:30 pm.
The annual OPC Thank Offering is coming on November 18, 2018. This year’s theme is “Our Generous God” and the whole offering supports Worldwide Outreach: Christian Ed, Foreign Missions, Home Missions. Please consider how you can help support the work of the Church.
The church is once again participating in Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree program. This year we will have ten (10) children participating divided among three (3) families. We have to make an initial contact with each family. Please see Sarah Taylor if you would be willing to make one or more of those phone calls. The initial contact is an important step in the process and should be done soon.
The next fellowship lunch is Sunday, December 2 after the morning worship. The food theme is Comfort Foods. Please bring a comfort food to share.
The evening worship is canceled on December 2. Instead, we’ll meet at 2:00 pm for our annual congregational and corporation meetings. All members are urged to be present as we hear reports from the pastor, elders, deacons, and treasurer. Also, we’ll review the proposed 2019 budget.
On Christmas Eve, the church will have its annual Lessons and Carols. Join us for this beautiful event and invite a friend.
A request from Rev. Dr. L. Charles Jackson (formerly of Covenant OPC, Vandalia): Hello from Mbale, Uganda. I have spoken to a few folks here and there in the POH, but I wanted to put out the word more broadly and officially to the POH that we (Jacksons) will be needing a vehicle next year August 2019-Feb 2020 for our furlough. We will be staying in Dayton, Ohio. If anyone or any diaconate in the presbytery can help us find a reliable, decent car to use while on furlough we would appreciate it so much. It looks like we have a place to stay that is furnished so finding a car is the next important item. We’ll only be home 6-7 months and we plan to use a car to travel around Ohio, western PA as well as other states while visiting churches so it will need to be reliable. Thanks and God bless.
