Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of November 2-8, 2015.
If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris to be included in the congregational prayer on Sunday morning or evening.
The Lord’s Day (November 8)
Mercy ministry can be tricky in our society. How does one know if giving handouts really helps? How can one help the needy? How does a Christian show biblical mercy ministry? Mr. Brian Hopson continues tackling this issue in his eight week class, “Biblical Principles for Helping in a Handout World”.
There are two children’s classes; both use the Great Commission Publications curriculum, Show Me Jesus.
Our final text in Hosea is 14:1-9 and the title is “The Way Home.” The New Testament lesson is Jude 1:14-25. Next week, we’ll begin a new series from Acts; please prepare by reading through Acts. One of the longest books in the New Testament, we’ll work our way through Acts under three main headings. The first is “The Gospel in Jerusalem” encompassing chapters 1-7. Second, we’ll see “The Gospel to Judea and Samaria” in chapters 8-12. We’ll finish with “The Gospel to the Ends of the Earth” in chapters 13-28. Since the book is long, we’ll take a break after each main section and then return after a few weeks.
We’ll continue our study of 2 Thessalonians, looking at 2 Thessalonians 3:6-12, “A Warning Against Idleness.”
The prayer meeting is Wednesday from 7-8 pm. Please send requests to Pastor Chris for compilation and use during the prayer time.
The women meet for Bible study each week to study the Gospel of Matthew. Contact Ananda Pienaar for time and place.
The men will meet on Saturday, November 21 at 8 am for breakfast and a study. Please bring a breakfast item to share and read chapters 3-5 of The Practice of Godliness.
Session will meet December 3 at 6:30 pm.
We will have our annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, December 6 at 2 pm. On that Sunday, we’ll have our morning service, fellowship lunch, and congregational meeting. There will be no evening worship that day.
