Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of April 13-19, 2015.
A Call to Prayer (Wednesdays at 7 pm)
Join us for an hour of prayer this and every Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm. This is a good chance to minister to one another in love through prayer. If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris by Wednesday afternoon to be included in the prayer meeting.
The Lord’s Day (April 12)
Mr. Alex Eppstein continues an eight week study on the Gospel of Mark. During the summer, we will have three or four short classes, which we will soon announce.
There are two children’s classes; both use the Great Commission Publications curriculum, Show Me Jesus.
We continue our study of the challenging prophet, Amos. After announcing the finality of judgment, Amos retreads his accusation of sin and notes Israel’s rejection of covenant curses intended to draw Israel into repentance. The text is Amos 4:1-13 and the title is ‘Rejecting Fatherly Discipline’. The New Testament reading is Romans 7:7-25.
We near the end of our series on the Westminster Shorter Catechism at question 106. At this point in the prayer, we consider the final petition. The text is Matthew 6:13 and the various supporting texts and the title is “Keep Us From Temptation.”
WSC 106 What do we pray for in the sixth petition?
A. In the sixth petition (which is, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil) we pray, that God would either keep us from being tempted to sin, or support and deliver us when we are tempted.
Wednesday Prayer at 7 PM, each Wednesday.
Sunday Evening worship is at 6 pm. If you have a psalm or hymn request, please forward it to Pastor Chris.
The Women's Bible Study is meets each Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Miller’s house.
The church will be hosting a progressive dinner on Friday, April 17, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. If you still desire to attend and have not signed up, please contact Sarah Taylor; her telephone number is below. Each family needs to bring at least one dish to make the meal successful. The Hostess of the house you are signing up, will contact you with the details of what dish (salad, entrée or dessert) you have to bring. We progress in the following order:
6:30 - 7:15 pm @ Penn's
7:30 - to 8:15 pm @ Taylor's
8:30 to 9: 30 pm@ Miller's
We need to know how many people are coming by Sunday April 12 so that the Hostesses can assign guests with food to bring. Contact Sarah Taylor with questions.
The deacons have scheduled a work day for Saturday, April 18 from 9 am until 1 pm. There will be indoor and outdoor work for skilled and unskilled laborers. Please see the sign-up sheet in the church lobby.
The Session will meet on Tuesday, April 28 at 6:30 pm.
The next fellowship lunch is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, immediately after morning worship. The theme will be announced.
If you would like to be a part of or would like more information about the Presbytery of Ohio’s disaster response team, please speak with one of the deacons, Mr. Brian Hopson or Mr. Luke Denny.
