Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of March 9-15, 2015.
A Call to Prayer (Wednesdays at 7 pm)
Join us for an hour of prayer this and every Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm. This is a good chance to minister to one another in love through prayer. If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris by Wednesday afternoon to be included in the prayer meeting.
The Lord’s Day (March 15)
Pastor Chris will make a report of presbytery. The Westminster Confession of Faith study will resume on March 22. On April 5, Mr. Alex Eppstein will begin an eight week study on the Gospel of Mark.
There are two children’s classes; both use the Great Commission Publications curriculum, Show Me Jesus.
While most of Amos’s prophecies are directed to the nation of Israel, he begins with a series of prophecies of judgment to the nations immediately surrounding Israel. I would recommend finding a study Bible with a map of the divided kingdoms so that you may see the nations to which Amos directs his prophecies. Our text is Amos 1:3-2:3 and the title is “Days of Vengeance.” Our New Testament lesson is Romans 5:12-21.
Our evening worship study is through the ordinary means of grace – the Word of God preached, the sacraments, and prayer. Having completed the first and second means of grace, we’ll slowly work through prayer. This week we’ll examine WSC 102, “Your Kingdom Come.” Our texts are Matthew 6:10a and the various supporting texts.
WSC 102 What do we pray for in the second petition?
A. In the second petition (which is, Thy kingdom come) we pray, That Satan's kingdom may be destroyed; and that the kingdom of grace may be advanced, ourselves and others brought into it, and kept in it; and that the kingdom of glory may be hastened.
Wednesday Prayer at 7 PM, each Wednesday.
Sunday Evening worship is at 6 p.m. If you have a hymn or psalm request, please send it to me for our hymn sing.
The Women's Bible Study is meets each Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Miller’s house.
The Presbytery of Ohio will meet March 13-14 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Vandalia. Along with Pastor Chris, our commissioner is Mr. Marius Pienaar. Please pray for wisdom and good fellowship among the presbytery.
The Session will meet on Tuesday, March 17 at 6:30 pm.
Life Line Screening will be conducting health screenings for stroke, diabetes, heart disease, and osteoporosis at the church on March 17. Registration is required. Pick up a flier from the lobby.
The men will meet on March 28 at 8 am at the church for another breakfast and study. Please invite a friend and read Ordinary, chapters 4-6.
Good Shepherd and Redeemer OPC will have a joint evening worship service on Sunday, March 29. Please bring a finger food to share at 5 pm; the service will be at 6 pm with Mr. Alex Eppstein preaching. The evening service here is canceled.
The next fellowship lunch is scheduled for Sunday, April 5, immediately after morning worship. The theme is brunch foods. Our evening service will be at 2 pm.
