Here are your Good Shepherd OPC announcements and worship helps for the week of December 15-21, 2014.
6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this. (Isaiah 9:6-7)
A Call to Prayer (Wednesdays at 7 pm)
Join us for an hour of prayer this and every Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm. This is a good chance to minister to one another in love through prayer. If you have a prayer request, please forward it to Pastor Chris by Wednesday afternoon to be included in the prayer meeting.
The Lord’s Day (December 21, 2014)
Mr. Brian Hopson continues his class on Ecclesiastes for the month of December.
Beginning January 4, 2015, Pastor Chris will begin a study of the Westminster Confession of Faith.
There are two children’s classes; both use the Great Commission Publications curriculum.
In our last infancy hymn, we’ll look at Simeon’s song in Luke 2:22-35. The Redeemer has been born with Joseph and Mary now bringing Jesus to the Temple for dedication. As this is about to happen, a man who is waiting to greet the Savior walks up to them and gives his song of praise. The Old Testament lesson is Leviticus 25:1-22.
At 4:30 pm, Rev. Mike McCabe will make a presentation, at 5:30 we will have a brief fellowship to meet our guest and his family, and at the service Rev. Mike McCabe will preach. His title is “What is the Mission of the Church?” from three texts: Joshua 1:1-9; Matthew 28:16-20; and Acts 1:6-8. We will pick up our study of the Westminster Shorter Catechism on January 4, 2015 with question and answer 89.
Wednesday Prayer at 7 PM, each Wednesday.
Sunday Evening worship is at 6 p.m. If you have a hymn or psalm request, please send it to me for our hymn sing.
